South Coast

The South Coast of Kenya refers to the coastal strip of Kwale County south of the Likoni ferry crossing, encompassing the settlements of Tiwi, Diani, Galu, Kinondo, Msambweni, and the broader Kwale hinterland. The area is connected to Mombasa via the Likoni ferry and the A14 Likoni–Lunga Lunga highway, which runs south to the Tanzanian border at Lunga Lunga. The South Coast is a recognised beach-tourism destination, with Diani Beach as its principal resort area, and includes the Diani Chale Marine National Reserve and the Shimba Hills National Reserve. Ukunda Airstrip (Diani Airport) provides scheduled domestic flights. Land and property transactions across the South Coast are administered by Kwale County and the Ministry of Lands and Physical Planning. Prospective buyers should conduct title verification, registry searches, and zoning confirmation before any commitment.
